Very good. I've been a visitor in Strangeways and. believe me God ain't in there.
Anyway it must be the same little lad I saw in church last week. He was clutching an old teddy bear that had seen better days and was patently cross-eyed.
"What's your Bear's name?" I asked him, smiling.
"Gladly." He said proudly.
"Gladly?" I asked , "That's an unusual name for a teddy bear. Why did you call him that?"
"Well," He replied wisely. "He's named after that hymn they sang about him."
"And what's that then?" I asked, puzzled.
"Gladly my cross I'd bear." He replied.

To be honest, you have to be British (or have lived in Britain, or heard of that jail) to get the joke.
Being none of the above and having never heard of that prison, no, it wasn't funny.
