I'm American but I'm going to be having a baby in the UK so I was just wondering

1. Are C-Sections common? Can you get one?
2. Do you get an epidural and all the same drugs?
3. How long do you typically stay in the hospital afterwords?

Thanks!!!

1. Only if you are a celebrity and pay for it. Unless of course the baby is in distress.
2. Gas and air is the common pain relief. Epidurals for extreem pain
3. 2-3 days

You can request a C section or they are preformed if all else fails.

yes you can get all the same drugs epidural gas air etc etc

that depends on you i had my 1st 27th Dec stayed in until 30th that was cause she had to have lots of tests done on her heart & my 2nd born 27th October i was home five hours after

basically you can stay as short or as long a time as you feel you should

if you are having your baby in the uk surely you have a hospital lined up you should check out all of their policies and go for a tour of the wards etc so you feel better about the whole process

good luck and congrats
