The greatest concern is deprivation of certain vitamins and protein overload. If you plan to stay on atkins take a generic multivitamin and drink lots of fluids. The protein overload could clog your kidneys.

Ok, there's alot of misconceptions about Atkins and similar diets, so I'll do my best to clear some of it up here.
First, Low-carb diets are not, and never were intended to be for everyone. They are for people with an abnormal metabolism. If you have a normal metabolism, the diet won't work.
Second, Atkins was the first version of low-carb, and therefore not perfected. You can't go through life eating nothing but bacon and heavy cream the way some people did at first. That's not healthy.
The best one in my opinion, is called the Protein Power diet. You can find the book on Amazon, I'm sure. Its been around for awhile. Its more well-balanced, includes lots of fruits and vegetables, and has tons of good info.

Atkins diet is still considered a "fad diet". Meaning people try it to lose weight quickly and easily, while not forcing themselves to work out or burn calories. But you'll rarely be able to keep the weight off forever.
The original way of losing weight is still the best, because you'll look good naked. Pay attention to how many calories you take in each day, keep your fat grams low also, vary your diet, and work out. The target is to burn more calories than you take in, and the simple act of working out will raise your self-esteem, make you happy, strengthen your heart and lungs so they don't work as hard, which in turn will make it easier for your body to keep weight off even in times where you are not eating good or working out.

When I tried it, my stomach felt upset all the time.
I now just try and control my portions and eat as healthy as I can (when I can...I'm not a saint...hehe).
