1# ground beef
1 pkg taco seasoning.
1 bag Taco flavored Doritos
chopped black olives
shredded lettuce
shredded cheddar cheese
Other add-ins if desired...peppers, onions, etc. I don't like them.
1 bottle Kraft Catalina dressing.

Cook ground beef according to directions on taco seasoning. Allow to cool.
In a large bowl, add lettuce, olives, and cheese. Mix well.
Add cooled ground beef.
Crunch up chips and pour in with beef mixture. Mix well.
Squirt a little Catalina dressing and mix well. Repeat until chip mixture is evenly coated. Adding too much dressing will result in a soggy taco salad, so it is best to add it a bit at time.
Serve immediately.

This is how I make it and I think it rocks

1 bag doritos, crushed
1 pound ground round, cooked and made with taco seasoning
taco seasoning packet
1 small onion
shredded lettuce
black olive slices
1 bag of shredded mexican blend cheese

garnish:
sour cream
salsa

Make the meat according to the seasoning packet and cool a bit. Mix everything but the garnishes. You could add the salsa and sour cream to it if you wanted, I like to do it on the side.

8 oz Cream Cheese
16 oz Sour Cream
1 packet of taco seasoning

Mix the above ingredients until smooth and spread them on a baking sheet.

Brown 1 pound of hamburger and mix it with another pack of taco seasoning (still drain the fat from the burger and don't add water), layer this on top of the mixture above. Then you can add lettuce, cheese, tomato, onion - whatever you like on it and use tortilla chips to dip with or just eat it with a fork.

It is always the first thing to go at any picnic or party I ever bring it to.

You are right, LOTS of diff ways and I never make mine the same way. You can start with either a bowl or a fried tortilla bowl. Your choice of lettuces, tomatos, cooked meat (beef or chicken-seasoned) shreadded cheese and beans. Use whole beans with a reg bowl - refried beans for tortilla bowl, then thickly smear the beans on the bottom/sides of tortilla. Add chopped chili and/or salsa to your taste. Top with dollop of sour cream if you like.

Ditto on the answer from amylynn25!! That is the same recipe I use, and it is SOOOO good! Although, I use zesty italian dressing instead of the Catalina.
But, that one is your best bet. It's quick, easy and inexpensive. AND it tastes GREAT!
Enjoy!

Oh yeah... I also put Tomatoes in there too.
