I would think at 16 weeks, the kitten would be ready to eat on its own and anything any kitten or cat would eat is fine. However, if it's still nursing or you're concerned, you can get a powdered mix that you put in water to bottle feed kittens (in cases where the mother dies or won't nurse or what-have-you). I know it's readily available at Walmart and you can probably get it other places too.

Science Diet kitten food has 33% protein and sells for $2.09 per lb. (dry). Ingredients: by product meal (heads, feet, entrails, feathers from chickens), whole corn, corn gluten meal. What makes that a good food for a cat? It is 2/3 corn and inferior meat protein.

Natural Balance has 34% protein and sells for $1.66 per lb. Ingredients are chicken meal, brown rice, duck, lamb meal. Does that sound a little better?

CA Natural is 36% protein and sells for $2.40 per lb. Ingredients are chicken, chicken meal, brown rice. Eagle Pack (Holistic Select) is 32% protein and I don't have a price per lb on that. Ingredients are duck meal, brown rice, chicken. Solid Gold (Katzen Flocken) is $1.50 per lb. It has lamb, chicken meal, millet, brown rice and fish meal. Nature's Logic has 38% protein and is $2.60 per lb. It has duck meal, millet, chicken meal, salmon meal.

So I would use Natural Balance and rotate food around using a couple of others from the more expensive (and better quality) foods. A cat or kitten should not be on one single food for all of its life. Rotating protein sources is the best way to go. Natural Balance also has a venison and pea food. Some chicken, some duck, some venison, some lamb -- all these are good. You don't have to use the most expensive all the time and you should use some of it for the kitten's optimum nutrition.

Innova EVO is by far the best. It's not kitten food, but it has the best nutrition for both kittens and cats.
Look into California Natural
Wellness
Artemis
Felidae
Never feed Iams, Purina, or Science Diet. It's all but poison. Read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin if you don't believe me. You will be shocked and amazed.

Kitten chow or any kitten food with high protein and fat in it....look at the labels...do not give it adult food until after it is a year old and then blend it in a little at a time so it will adjust to the new food.....

I would feed the kitten can food, perhaps Iams, or another well known brand, and possibly a little raw liver from time to time. It is not wrong to feed cats(Carnivores/meat eaters) raw meat. They, in nature would get raw meat by hunting. Avoid fish, as it contains too much bone meal, which can lead to mineral crystals in the urinary tract, and is not really good for them. Also avoid milk, as it isnt really good for them either. I hope this helps.

Cats are territorial while a clean kitten is presented. I certainly have 7 cats and each and every time because of the fact the maximum recent member develop into presented the others weren't chuffed campers. in basic terms wait and spot Lacey gets over it, no rely how plenty she hisses. she would be waiting to even slap the child, that too is organic, as long as Lacey are not aggressive in the direction of the child, in basic terms save an eye fixed on them. first of all feed them one after the other until eventually they're used to a minimum of one yet another. additionally save their muddle bins separate until eventually they're used to a minimum of one yet another. it ought to take in basic terms countless days yet ought to take as long as a week or 2 or 3. they gets used to a minimum of one yet another, no rely how long it takes. in basic terms save an eye fixed out that Lacey would not bully the child. i do no longer think of you have something to agonize approximately. Get them spayed / neutered as quickly as they arrive to age, so there should not be a good number of infants working around. good success and as quickly because it truly is throughout you will see it develop into much less annoying than initially concept!
