Is it okay if I use the word 'read' for tables and graphs as I used in my reply to this letter below?

Excellency,

This is to acknowledge the receipt of your Excellency’s letter dated 2nd October 2006 along with the attached tables and graphs which we have read with much interest.

"reviewed" would be more appropriate

The word is just fine. It is simple and to the point. A thank you note is not the best place to display your erudition.

I would use "analyzed" or "studied" instead.
