I would recommend a Poodle. They do not shed, but the have to have a hair cut regularly. Any dog can be good with small children, cats and other dogs if it is trained right.

all dogs shed, poodles are probably your best bet. some of the poodle mixes are really quite cute. Just remember. All dogs are individuals and if you raise them w/ cats and other dogs around this will help there temperment toward them. If a small dog has never seen a large dog and all of a sudden has a pack of large dogs surrounding him. He probably will not do well

Poodles don't shed. Well they do but their fur doesn't get everywhere. They do need to be taken to the groomers on a regular basis though. There are also hairless dogs. I must say they are quite ugly but they don't shed. All dogs shed it's just how much they shed. Try looking for one that sheds very little.

I recommend getting one of the poodle mixes, that keeps them from shedding. I have a 1/2 ShihTzu 1/2 Poodle and he is an awesome dog. If you want something small, you might want to try a MaltiPoo or a YorkiPoo. They stay very small (just a few pounds)

I have a cockapoo (1/2 cocker spaniel, 1/2 poodle.) She's good with children and cats but hates large dogs (that's just her, though.) She doesn't shed one bit but has to go to the groomer once a month!

My sister got a Yorkie a couple of weeks ago. He weighs about five pounds and he's not getting any bigger. He's about the size of a roll of paper towels.(Weird visual, I know, but he was laying next to some, they're the same size. But the roll wasn't full, so I guess he's smaller than a roll of paper towels.) He cost 600.
