what are the factors that might make a baby early or a late walker?

There are no factors. I have 3 kids. My daughter was pulling up and walking along the furniture a 6 months. My first son did not walk well until 15 months. My second son walked at 13 months. There is a normal range it is about 6-8 months to 12-18 months. My niece decided not to walk until she was 18 months old.
Some of it I think has to do with temperment and the other has to do with the need. My niece did not "have to" walk and so she didn't. I hope this helps.

9 months to 18 months is what our book said. Both our children walked at 15 months. Our son is the only 5yo in his First Grade Class, and can swim the length of the pool - so don't worry if your child is a late walker. It's not an indication that anything is wrong.

You can ask the grandparents about when various kids in the family learned to walk, but it's not a real predictor. The real worry factor would be if at 18 months the child isn't mobile at all - not even crawling.

both mine walked at diff. ages. One walked at 13 months old...only cause it slowed him down-super fast crawler :). The other walked at 9 months and never crawled once. Pulled himself up on the coffee table one day and walked to the couch and that was it. I think the baby decides. You can always sit on the floor and give them things to try to walk to to help it along. But either way after about 16 months I would check with a doctor. I haven't seen that ever happen. I work in a daycare and most kids walk by 15 months. The ones that didn't had a medical reason, premie or bone trouble. So don't worry if your baby is healthy. You'll be chasing a baby around eventually.

My daughter started walking around 10 1/2 or 11 months, but I have heard of kids walking earlier (some even skip crawling.) Some kids don't learn to walk until older, like 16 months or more. As long as a child within that range can move around on their own, either by scooting on their belly or butt, or crawling, I don't think there is anything to worry about. Your pediatrician can tell you for sure if you need to be concerned.

I started walking at 9 months and I think that was early..I would guess as late as 15 months would be normal. I think it also depends on how often you pick up the baby. The more you pick up the baby, the less they'll want to learn to walk on their own.

I think a baby can walk as early as 7 months and as late as 18 months. My daughter walked at 9 months and my son walked 2 weeks after his first bday.

It's different for every baby my step-daughter was over a year old when she began walking but she was also born 3 mos early.

my daughter was a year old and my son was 8-9 mos.

A normal range is anywhere from 5mos to 1and 1/2 years of age. If you get too worried just ask a pediatrician.

My daughter was walking at 9 months. The average baby starts to try between 10 months and 18 months. But every child has their own time line, my daughter's just happens to be on super-speed.

Some babies start as early as 9 months but I"m not sure. I started walking (they said) when I was 11 months. So around 11 months to 14 months?
