Christians, in their mindless ranting and shrieking about things they don't understand, always accuse people of "murdering babies" when the abortion debate comes around. A woman can legally have a zygote or embryo removed (a mass of cells in her uterus that she doesn't want there...) but they'll screech and shriek "oh, you're murdering babies" because their bible-home-schooling has left them without the ability to reason or use logic.

Funny, though...they have no problem taking their embryoes or zygotes out and dropping them into deep freeze FOR MONTHS OR YEARS AT A TIME, to use later...as their property! There are millions of embryoes in liquid nitrogen deep freeze all over the US, all over the world. Wow -- all these "babies with souls" frozen in deep freeze! HYPOCRITES??

Many of the embryoes die in this process. But that's ok with christians, because these are their PROPERTY. Suddenly, they aren't "babies with souls" anymore??

Do you buy christian hypocrisy and BS?

fiveshiftone had difficulty in realizing that freezing an embryo is part of the "in vitro" process of medical assisted fertilization. so, i figured i'd better add this verbiage here, for people like her who cannot make that connection. FREEZING EMBRYOES is a part of the IN VITRO fertilization process. sorry for not including this, i thought it was clear. i can also add a link to one of the many labs which do this:

for "New Catholic" -- please re-read my posted question. You will not find the word CATHOLIC in my question anywhere, adn therefore, I will not post a retraction about "what i said about catholics" -- i never made one reference specifically to catholics. except, in a general sense, I will say this; many catholics are also hypocrites (they sure do contribute a lot to the divorce rate in this country) -- and that's just one example, of a different nature. thanks for playing!!

for "processdude" -- your logic goes all the way back to a sperm and egg, also "life forms" that people come from -- so, spilling your **** or exp;elling an egg into a clump of cotton shoudl be Blasphemy! becasue we all come from those. stick to the topic of this particular hypocrisy, without delving into the entire gamut of hypocrisy that christians practice regularly. remember, women are unclean for one week each month, so don't touch them -- from your friends at Leviticus...

I hate to point out the hypocrisy of catholics here (well, no...actually, i enjoy pointing it out...)

But, one of the largest hospitals in London, St Thomas' Hospital on Lambeth Palace Road, London, is the most succesful and well-known hospital for in-vitro fertilization in all of Europe. And, guess what: they receive massive funding from the Catholic Church. OOOOOPS!! So much for the idea that Catholics forbid it. THEY SUPPORT IT, and FUND A MAJOR HOSPITAL IN EUROPE THAT PROVIDES THAT SERVICE!!!

Time to go wipe the "yecch" off of your mouth. More hypocrisy...what a shock, aye?

Congrats on coming to the realization that many Christians are hypocrites and that logic does not apply to organized religion!

You rant like a man consumed by the Dark Side of the force.

I've been giving the subject of abortion much thought of late.

My biological "mother" attempted to have me aborted a month or so into her pregnancy, if it were not for my slightly mad (but very adorable) grandmother basically kidnapping her, I would not be sitting here typing right now.

After several long discussions with different people on this very website I've decided you can believe one of two things without being a hypocrite:

1) That all life is sacred, that the death penalty is as abhorrent for perverts, murders and rapist as it is for "fertilised" human eggs.

or

2) That life is not sacred, and once a human being stops being of use to society than they should just be taken out of the equation(such as a paedophile that will never be able to work again and will need to claim benefit for the rest of his life and be observed by the police, taking up precious resources).

The above is what really gets on my nerves, rightwing Christians are happy to kill people for an embryo that may not even mature into a baby, but as soon as you kill someone then you can hang. It's yet another critically ignorant stand point that refuses to take logic into account.

hmmm, as far as i understood (which, admittedly, is not the hugest amount), an unfirtillized embryo is not considered 'human' yet becuase of the whole fact that is not not yet fertilized! It does not have the required STUFF from both mum and dad yet to trigger cell division, development etc. etc.. If an egg on its own could develop into a child, what are us women wasting our time on men for?! lol

surely placing eggs in a deep-freeze for future use would be no different than the eggs remaining in the woman's body... wouldn't it? sure, embryos die in the deep freeze system, but no more than would die within a woman's body through the whole menstrual cycle...

i don't know, maybe 'true' christians or pro-lifers don't do this. maybe they are hipocrites. maybe people are just trying to preserve their chances of bringing a healthy child into this world.

there are hipocrites in all facets of life, whether this technically constitutes as hipocrisy or not... the big question is... do you waste your life jumping up and down illustrating these so-called hipocrisies... or do you just quietly get on with your own life, making sure not to fall into these own traps for yourself? i try to go the latter... people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones...

An unfertilized egg cell is not fully human because it doe not have the number of chromosomes to become human.

An embryo is a unique collection of genes that does not exist in either the father or the mother, so it is a different organism than either.

According to your logic, the embryo should be considered the father's tissue, since it has his genes?

You are absolutely right that Christians who oppose direct abortion are bein hypocritical if they allow in vitro fertilization and the freezing of embyros.
However, the Catholic Church is uniformly opposed to all practices the do not respect the developing human being from the moment of conception.

Well, if you don't buy the argument that fetuses are human, then don't go crying in your Geritol when you get old because some 40 million would-be taxpayers have been aborted since 1973 and now you've got 40 million fewer taxpayers to pay into the Social Security system to keep in solvent. I guess we'll just have to knock off the unwanted old folks since every old person should be wanted just like all children should be wanted.

Actually most pro-life people won't practice the kind of fertility treatments you're talking about. They won't even do in vitro fertilization because it creates viable embryoes that won't come to term.

Dude, ask yourself: are you an adult who came from a teenager, or are you an adult who once was a teenager? Were you a teenager who came from a child, or a teenager who once was a child? Were you a child who came from a fetus, or a child who once was a fetus? Were you a fetus who came from a zygote, or a fetus who once was a zygote? Don't you get it? It's an absolutely unbroken chain of development from zygote to you. You didn't come from a zygote; you once were a zygote. That zygote was you -- at that stage of your development. Haven't I just shown you that persons are persons from conception? Can you argue that one with me?

I'm not even religious; I verge on being an atheist, I don't believe in a personal God, and I still think this, because reason makes me think it.

Actually, not every Christian who hates abortion feels like that. Many are against in vitro too. Y'see, in vitro means your most likely having a baby not of your spouse, be it the egg or the sperm that's donated. This counts, in some eyes, as a form of adultery.

You do not understand the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Please research a little before bashing, you don't want to become guilty of the very thing that you are claiming the Christians do right?

Catholics are against Abortion, Artificial Birth Control AND also AGAINST Artificial Fertilization.

The teachings of the Catholic Church IS consistent in this realm.

You might get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, it is right there in black and white.

Can you post a retraction now?

Wow that is quite an exaggeration. If a pro-life christian is participating in in-vitro , then yes maybe they are hypocritical, or misinformed. I think if you were to actually research this you would discover that is a very small percentage of people. This is not a very convincing argument. All human beings are hypocrites not just Christians. Tell me why you believe a woman has a right to choose, yet you condemn her if she chooses to honor life? -hypocritical?

Christians don't do invitro. Or at least the real ones don't.

You might understand better if you let go of your own bigotries about who Christians are and what they believe.

Why is it that three people die from spinach tained with e-coli and all the spinach is pulled from shelves? Yet, 8 women die from the abortion pill and that's ok?

Women deserve better than this lie we're being fed. More women are dying from legalized abortions than ever were when it was illegal. But since it's legal and they sign a form, it's OK. Women deserve better than that.
