As I got older my understanding of the world around me grew. However, I find that a lot of fundamentalists tend to only know what they have been told and never take the time to think rationally about it. They have the same beliefs on Wednesday that they had on Monday, regardelss of what happens on Tuesday.

In Christianty there are three types. the immature, who run on the basics, the mature, who have a much better understanding, and the perfected, who are in heaven. When you learn in school you learn differant way to solve a problem that always haves the same answer, right? You learn that 2 plus 2 is 4. Then you learn 2 times 2 is 4. The answer is 4 because someone TOLD you that that is what we CALL the number 4. To you evolution is a fact. Any proof you give me CAN be disputed. You can't prove it, you'd refer me to someone someone else TOLD you can. Everything you've learned someone else TOLD you or TOUGHT you. Hardly anyone in history has EVER come up with their OWN ideas. Few people are like Ben Franklin or Albert Einstein, who changed reality. Einstein was TOLD about mathmatics. Franklin was TOLD about thoeries about useing lighting for energy. EVEYONE ELSE was TOLD about thier discoveries and built on them. Now who really IS the "fundermentalist" who "tend to only know what they have been told"? With all do respect, you are no Franklin or Einstein, when YOU change reality then I will "take the time to think rationally about it."By the way Franklin believed in God and Jesus, and Einstein believed in a "creator" of the universe.

Most don't grow up at all, sadly. They just keep living in the flesh without any regard for the spirit. They stay babies their entire life.
Grasping the fundamentals of truth is fine. Hebrews talks about basic fundamnetals that even barely born again babes understand:

"So let us stop going over the basics of Christianity again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don't need to start all over again with the importance of turning away from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don't need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. "
Hebrews 6:1,2

Our learning, of course, should be revelations from the word of God. Our belief stronger and stronger as we meditate on that word, taking no regard what fallible mens thoughts that might take our minds captive that Christ is renewing day by day.

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
Romans 12:2

That depends on what you mean. If you mean that they can not defend their belief without contantly resorting to faith as their answer, then I agree they should grow up. Faith may be the only answer to some questions, but most have valid evidence that many "fundamentalists" do not take the time to find out.
Now if your asking why they keep their beliefs and don't simply grow out of them because of bordem, then the answer is plain. By definition "fundamentalists" have a set of beliefs that hold true to their lives no matter their age or level of maturaity.

On behalf of all truly born again believers I can say that we consider it a complement to be noted for our consistency and in particular that we are credited as having.... "the same beliefs on Wednesday that they had on Monday, regardless of what happens on Tuesday".

Of course the rock solid foundation of our faith is without question based on the unchanging consistency of God's word and it's timeless relevance whatever and wherever we find ourselves. The God that we serve, is the same yesterday, today and for evermore, His love, mercy and grace are boundless and we can rely on Him to provide for our every need.

Those that believe they have freedom in their "rational thinking" fail to understand or comprehend that true freedom is found in Jesus alone. There is no other name under the heavens by which we can be saved.

Without His word in our hearts we are destined to be tossed this way and that by the high seas of lies, deception and deceit that seek to separate us from our salvation and ultimately destroy us.

I suggest you take time to think rationally about the miracle of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus who died for all of our sins so that we could have an abundant life in Him.

May God bless you with a fuller understanding.

this could be an exceptionally thrilling question. My first concept develop into 'confident!' I recommend how cool could it truly is to stand guy eating sharks, leap from a plane without parachute, work together with lions/tigers, cope with venomous creatures understanding you may no longer die? There could additionally be plenty cool assets you need to do to guard society, case in point you need to stroll proper right into a ambush difficulty and take out the undesirable guy, diffuse bombs, rescue ppl from burning homes and so on. yet being immortal as a great capacity on my own could kind of suck in case you had huge-unfold human potential. case in point, if u have been out strolling contained in the woods and a tree fell on u, or u have been in touch in a fall down, you have to be caught there for hundreds of years! I additionally think of you may certainly start to hate people. case in point while i'm 500 years previous and enormously developed intellectually, do you think of i could desire to this point a 25 year previous guy? it could be like being with an ape! and ultimately technology predicts that this planet will at last deplete and stop to exist. So what then? could I in basic terms be floating around in area hoping to fulfill an alien. by potential of that time, i could in all risk be a heavily insane version of myself, suffering to bear in mind my early human existence.

I love this question, I'm going to rip it off and use it as a retort the next time someone asks me if I've been born again.

It's a good observation. Being born again leads to perpetual infancy.

Interesting question... I agree somewhat. I think they'll gain new beliefs, but only from people that are as fundamentalist as they. Such as, at church.

no because it is a continuous cycle of being born again and they spend the rest of their life in an infintile state of stagnation, but they are happy and that is all that matters

when you are born again you are not of this world anymore. it doesn't matter if things around you change. the things that are in GOD"S WORD never change and the things that are taught from GOD' WORD if taught right will never change. so why move outside of GODS WILL just to please ones self or please the world.
