Why do people want to believe in something that has no positive inpact on their lives? People get angry when someone speaks of the love of God...I don't understand...should we all be speaking of hate? Will that make people happy?

You need Faith.

It isn't bad - until it affects the decisions you make and impacts on the lives of others.

As for the rest of your question, I don't know what you're talking about. You need to be more specific. What bad thing are you referring to?

I'll assume that you're referring to the "belief" that there is no god. How does the truth NOT have a positive impact? Sure truth can suck with teeth, but burying your head in the sand doesn't help.

And why do you assume that just because someone doesn't believe in god that it's all negative? You're making quite a leap there, and without a net.

There are two different kinds of desires going on here: One is to understand the truth, regardless of what it is and regardless of whether we like it or not. The other is to believe what makes us feel good, regardless of whether it is true or not. I strive for the former because that's what feels right to me. Other people prefer the latter. I can understand that, and accept it, as long as it doesn't have a negative impact on my life. It won't stop me *challenging* that sort of attitude though, partly because believing in religious nonsense offends me, and partly because I know that some of those religious people will actually be happier when they've achieved a more enlightened and realistic view of the world.

That is your opinion. I am a pagan and I have a number of atheist and pagan friends and we all have and live positive lives.

And in my experience, when someone speaks of the "love of god", what they are really saying is "you are condemned to hell if you don't believe in my god." That does not have any sort of positive effect on my life.
Peace
