Lazerquest or things of that nature. My nephew is 11 and he loved it along with his friends. Also, try the movies. You can have a birthday party at the movies and when the movie start they'll have an usher take the kids to the movie and the kids section will be taped of with a reserved note on it. The kids all felt really special.

My 9 year old son has come up with the following ideas for his
10th b'day:
1. A sleepover with 4 other friends who are all into their
gameboys -- so we would ask that they bring their games, and
maybe link them.
2. Bullwinkles-- they have go-karts, bumper boats, laser tag and
arcade games, plus pizza. (might be too pricey, though)
3. The Aquatic center -- has 5 pools and two huge slides.
Hope these help.

The cheapest thing to do is a scavenger hunt. If you want to spend some money though, I'd definetely do the lazer tag/arcade birthday.

Rent a few DVD's he'd like. Let him and his friends play their music loud, and don't complain. (You might want to warn the neighbors beforehand!) Order pizza, wings and soda for the kids.

Why don't you ask him what HE wants instead of asking strangers? He's old enough to know what ideas he would like.
