Possibly. Though that ignores the more obvious question: Why are human beings the only species on the planet (or in the universe as far as we know) that are endowed with reason?
It is also possible that all those who have gone before us weren't liars. (In otherwords, the religious traditions are based on truth.) I am inclined to believe this latter possibility, particularly in the light of the many evidneces I have seen in my own life supporting this belief.

More likely we used our reasoning capability to arrive at the inescapable conclusion that God is a logical necessity. As rational beings, we realized very early on that the universe did not create itself, and that matter was not eternal. Therefore the only logical conclusion was a creator. Logic and reason can take you that far.
However, men did of course create many religions and "gods" in an effort to satisfy this obvious logical necessity. While the necessity for a creator, and certain characteristics of that creator, can be recognized by purely logical means, the identity of that creator cannot be discovered logically. Mankind had no access to that knowledge until the Creator Himself took the initiative and revealed Himself to mankind.

It's possible, but the history of religion shows it is simply mythology that evolved from ancient astronomy. The "purpose" business was tacked on as an afterthought.
That said, evidence suggests we are NOT the only rational species on the planet. There are other species that show the ability for abstract thought that we have, such as bottlenose dolphins, some species of birds, chimps, and other apes. We're probably the smartest, but that's a matter of degree, not substance.

Be good, continuously. ...uncomplicated experience... it is a uncommon commodity... *The 5 actual senses: Seeing, listening to, tasting, smelling, and touching. have self belief it or not, all 5 of the actual senses will enable someone to sense. All 5 of the actual senses might work together in the framework of human information. *The seven states of human information: a million. Unarvu - feeling 2. Unarchi - information 3. Puthi - mind 4. Madhi - Judgment 5. Arivu - diffused expertise 6. Pahuth Arivu - Divine expertise 7. Perr Arivu - Divine Luminous expertise All human beings might probably have get admission to to the, 5 actual senses. All human beings do have get admission to to the, "Seven States of information". A person ought to attempt diligently to get admission to all "Seven States of information", for it is the genuine beginning-genuine bestowed upon each and every person. hopefully that makes some 'experience'... Peace be continuously with you. Meechum Anbu (lots Love) in sha'Allah al-hamdu lillah Salaams,

Can you tell me this. If Humans are the only creatures endowed with reasoning and as you quoted "invented religion" then who created your thoughts, your feelings, your mind, body. Who created religion? Without no mind, how could one make religion. You are just misunderstanding that God exists and that he created everything.

Yes its possible.
However "possibility" is no reason for accepting a theory. Its perfectly possible that the Flying Spaghetti Monster created the world and intervenes constantly with his noodly appendage and that global warming is caused by pirates.
It possible that Bin Laden will come on a sub in place of Thierry Henri in the next Arsenal game. Its possible that I'm just a machine. Its possible........ you get the idea.
Now where is the evidence?

It is possible. In fact, I once theorized that religion was a social law of ages that "managed" the otherwise unruly, or animal instincts, of man. I have since seen miracles that made me investigate, study, and then believe that God is God, Jesus is Jesus, and the Bible is the Word. So, while it is possible, it does not make sense to me because it does not explain the miracles.

The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first sign a species is achieving sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods.

No, because humans in general don't want to be accountable to anyone else for their actions, so why create a religion or religions that will send you to a bad place if you are bad?

The only flaw in your logic is that the God of scripture rarely acts the way a "man-made" diety would be expected to act. It seems like a man-made God would act more like humans if we had made Him up.
