My 14 month old has started playschool two days a week. She seems to pick up every cold and sniffle that the other children have. I am searching for a way to build up her resistance and immunities to these types of common illnesses.

Unfortunatly that's how they become more resistant to these things. By exposure. I kept mine home and they were never sick......until they started regular school and they went through about 2 years of catching colds etc. After that they have been pretty healthy. I taught them basic hygiene rules and made sure they had the waterless hand sanitizers etc. Otherwise....healthy food and exercise.

Children need to be socialised and playschool is a great place to do it. I have yet to find anything that helps with the catching of everything that goes around. I've asked the Doctor and was told to give Vitamins and run the humidifier at night. I wish I had a magic formula to keep all the germs away, but since we live in the real world children are going to be exposed to all kinds of things, that's why we have immunisation for the serious diseases. Good Luck to you.

The best way to do that is to let her stay. Dr.'s have said if you want a stonger immune system you have to get sick to fight it off, otherwise if you do get sick and haven't been around it it will be worse or last longer. You can't prevent every little cold or sniffle, no matter how hard you try. Good luck

Once children start play school they are going to pick up every little cold that going - but - keep them at play school as this is the only way to build up the resistance.

Unfortuantly, there is no way to avoid this - if you took the child out of play school they would only catch the colds later on in life, i.e at school.

Also, ensure that your child gets chicken pox early on - its never as serious if the child is young

Take her out of playschool. She doesn't need to be there unless you don't have any other option for someone to watch her. I would never put my child in a place like that--especially at 14 months old. She's going to get sick...there's no stopping it. She's in a place filled with germy little kids--she's gonna get sick sooner or later. Take her out..that's what you *should* do.

teach tour child to wash his or her hands regularly, and not to handle things that another sick child is playing with.Coupled with a good chewable children's vitamin. 5 kids and 6 grand kids , this has worked great for me.
