You're basing this on what Hollywood puts out? Seriously??? Just so you know, most of what comes out of Hollywood is fiction, even documentaries are just the director's perception/opinion of "what has been and what could be."
If you don't like what you're seeing, don't watch it. Freedom of speech is one of our most valued liberties here in the U.S., but nobody ever said you had to listen...

History is told by the victor in war. In this case, the United States. My grandfather took part in WWI. He told me, when I was a boy, that by 1918 the Brit and French armies were at a standstill - a stalemate ensued between them and the Germans. In 1918, the US Army arrived. It ran, bayonettes fixed at the German lines, killing as they did so. My grandfather, fatigued as he was, stood up, with thousands of other Tommies and cheered the Yanks and ran out towards the German lines to join the Americans. The French did the same. If the Yanks had not arrived, who knows what the outcome would have been. The Americans showed how to do it. They were fresh in battle and not weary and tired. They made victory possible.
In WW2 we had not had a real victory by the end of 1941. But since Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese Imperial Navy, America was drawn into the war. From the US point of view, this would have been a war against Japan. However, Germany declared war on the US - the US then joined her alley, UK and begain thus began the fight back to ultimate victory.
I have no doubt that we Brits would have eventually had a victory over Germany, but it may not have happened until 1950 or later.
The Americans, as victorious in war, have every right to write history and tell it how it was from their point of view.
To be honest, the British in the Pacific in WW2 were just a nuisance really. Ask any ex-US Navy man. Or, speak to Admiral Nimitz, up there somewhere. He no doubt would give you a red ear full about what he thought of the British.
My father fought in WW2 and for the rest of his life, had nothing but high praise for the "Yanks"...."Over there, Over there, the Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming....." etc.
If you want to see the finest military band in the world, go to www.necgroup.co.uk and get a ticket to see the Birmingham Tatoo - which this year features the United States Army Band. The world's greatest and most victorious army.
Old soldier British Army - I salute all US Veterans.

If you are basing you question on Hollywood then you are watching to much TV. Try finding things out by getting out in the real world for a change. One good point for you though, you at least support the military.

I hope you're not basing your opinion of America, or the ideals of its foreign policy, on what you see oozing out of Hollywood.
The United States has been the most powerful force for good in recorded history. Most of Europe and Asia live free today because, at least in part, of America's roles in world wars to ensure that freedom.
Yes, we're the only country to have used a nuclear weapon against anyone. This makes us the ideal entity to restrict others from using these horrible weapons. I don't see us using them ever again ... unless our very shores were threatened with invasion.

And if America was quiet and innocent people were killed, then the American people (and the rest of the world) throw a fit because nothing was done to stop it!So either way if they say/do something they are bad. If they do nothing, they are bad. Stop whining, and be grateful for a nation that cares about other countries.
