I just feel sad most times, i dont know why, i just do...and i have a very negative view of myself but my brother says that i am depressed, i dont know if i am - i thought i was just being realistic but he disagrees

and sometimes i feel VERY angry, no reason, i'd just like to take some frustration out sometimes...i think its built up tension but im not sure what the cause is

what can i do myself to help build up my self esteem? i dont want anyone to know about this.

First of all you are very normal, you are not alone and this feeling will get better! It sounds as thought you are stressed and that is resulting in anxiety. It can help to understand what is causing you to feel this way; often the only way to do that is by talking to other people about how you are feeling. It also depends on your age because if you are a teenager for example then you are experiencing one of the biggest transitions of your life, both psychically and mentally and this can play havoc on you self-esteem. At that age you are young and you have many questions about your world and your future and often the answers are unavailable and this can make you feel anxious, but sometimes all you can do is just wait and see. Parhaphs you could try some relaxation techniques. Another good idea to look in a mirror and remind your self of the things that you like about your self; if you feel that you don’t like anything then this is probably more of a reflection on how you are feeling than how you look, find things that you like and tell yourself (out loud) that you are beautiful and you are! If you start too feel to bad then you should talk to your GP. Your GP will not think that you are mad or silly and you do not have to go thought this on your own.

Poor thing! it would be interesting to know how old you are. the reason i say this is that i was depressed when i was younger (teenager) as i felt that my feelings and views were always seen as unrealistic or stupid by mainly family members. Intelligent people who think alot about things and ponder on life tend to get more depressed than those who are a bit more selfish minded.
Hormones can cause depression (time of the month when oesrogen levels go up and down etc)

Hang around people who are more positive and stay away from those who are negative. Try to always find humor or something positive about something. You can always find something negative. We are a negative society but it is rare to find someone or something that is positive. I heard this once but I don't know who true it is 50 percent of people are genecially positive and the others are negative. Try laughing for no reasons throughout your day and always smile even when your down. Stand up strait and tall to no slouching. It is hard to be sad when your aperance says something else. Be more spontaneous. Just little things like that you can do without drawing attention to yourself or taking medication or talking to someone. Image is everything.

Ummm, my record is plenty extra effective than 5...yet right here you pass with some: a million. Being with strangers who dont provide a damn, like at events 2. Having to attend long in fancy eating places even after paying the severe fees 3. people asking me the comparable question too many cases 4. people calling on the tip of the day while i'm soo drained

First of all - I think you are completely normal. Second - you should exercise - not only has exercise been shown to help you release good neurotransmitters in your brain, it will improve your physical condition and will help you have better self-esteem. It is hard to make exercise a habbit, I know, but if you want it enough you'll do it. Insanity is doing the same over and over and expecting a different result.

hello sweetheart, i can tell you from personal experiance i was suffering really badly from depression myself two years ago and i went to my doctor who had me tested for hormone inbalance dissorders such as pcos and endometreocis i came back positive for pcos which is polycystic ovarium syndrome. it can make you feel sad or totally depressed for no apparent reason, there are medications which you can take but i found them to be of no use to me, a change in diet can help or there are some really good books out on the subject. but no jumping the gun sweetie it could just be stress or you could just be a bit run down so my best advice would be for you to see your doctor first and see what he/she has to say. good luck with it darling hope i could help xxx

One in four people will suffer from some sort of mental illness in their lifetime. It's just as common as breaking your leg. You wouldn't think twice about asking your doctor for help with the latter, therefore you should also ask him/her about the former. It's often caused by a chemical imbalance and medication would help you as a plaster cast would help your broken leg.
We need to break this taboo.
