I'm 19 years old, 5ft. 8in. and I weight 155Ibs. Yeah, I am still relitively skinny, but over the past 6 months or so I have gained a good amount of weight. I dont understand where it is coming from.. I only eat about twice a day and I drink a decent amount of water each day. I am pretty busy with school, studying, and work so I dont have much to to be active and work out. But I dont understand why I am gaining this weight. It's mostly in my upper body - stomach and chest. Its like my body isnt burning off hardly anything that I eat.. why is this???

the reason you are gaining weight is because you are slowing down your metabolism. its good that you drink a lot of water but you have to keep your metabolism constantly working. Eat fruit or grains or veggies as a snack. don't just eat twice a day. have a healthy snack atleast every 2 hours. When you only eat twice a day, your stomach has nothing to store and when you finally do eat, it stores a lot of the fat in the food that you are eating. it will just retain the bad stuff(fat) and make you gain weight. you sound like you are a very busy girl/guy so don't worry too much about exercising a lot. Just have small snack every two hours and eat helthy meals and keep up the water. You'll do fine. Good luck

Your metabolism slows down as you age. Even tho your only 19.

You have a bad eating habbit of only 2 meals a day. Meals should be spread across the day, and ideal amount is 3 meals, with 3 snacks inbetween meals. This actually speeds up metabolism and burns fat in a better way.

That said, the body stores fat for other reasons. This could be because you are facing a lot of stressful situations??? Stress increases the stress hormone called Cortisol, and this hormone causes the body to store more fat. So you you saying that you are busy, (might have become more busy then before) and that is causeing you stress, leading to weight gain.

I suggest you balance your work load with relaxing activities. This could be from going for walks or simple just having a laugh with friends and thinking about nothing and not worrying about things. If you do have worries, solve them, but worry less about them. does that make sense?

I am 21, and i remember i got really stressed when i was 18 and 19 because of school work demand and plus going to University and meeting new people was a new kind of stress.

Before i finish, i do reccoment you should start working out. Its not because your gaining weight i reccoment this. Its because it will keep you focused in life, and help you in your studies (a healthy body works better even mentally).

take it easy and dont stress out much. Good luck!

Not eating that much may be youre very problem. Our bodies turn a lot of foods into a form of nutrition called glycogen. Now, lets say for instance that you only give you body 2 doses (2 meals) of glycogen a day. If this is the case your body will save the glycogen only for emergencies just in case it doesn't get any more fuel for a while. Basically what I'm trying to say is this: when you body only gets feed once of twice a day it desperately holds on to that nourishment because it's not sure when it will get fed again. Eating small, frequent meals lets your body know that its going to be getting a constant source of energy so, in turn, your body doesn't have a problem with burning that energy off. Try this: I know eating six times a day like the magazines say is hard so what I do is divide my day into four parts. For instance, I am awake from 8 am until 10 pm so I eat at 8 am, 12 noon, 4 pm, and 8 pm. These are all times where I can set aside a few minutes to eat. Plus, I'm not eating Thanksgiving dinner, i have something like a PB&J or Lean Pocket, just enough to kill the hunger, but not enough to feel full. Eating can be fun, dont get me wrong, but the main purpose of eating is to give ourselves energy. Eating small, frequent meals is a good way to keep your energy on an even-keel all day so you never get that sluggish feeling that alot of poeple get a few hours after a big meal.

you in all probability merely have a very extreme metabolism. I certainly have quite a few acquaintances an analogous way. They consume like loopy yet do no longer income a pound. Ur ultimate wager is in all probability to improve some weights. You definetly shouldn't pig out on risky meals or chocolates or something. merely proceed to consume what ever ur at present ingesting (save it healty nonetheless) and get in some form of weight lifting application. you will placed on some muscle. Which weighs extra beneficial than fat. goodluck

Try eating 3 small meals a day and 3 small snacks. This will keep your motabolism and keep you burning cals. Also your motabolism slows down as you get older, so your gonna have to start eating healthier and see if you can squeeze in just a little excercise (even if its just things like taking the stairs or biking places instead of driving)

stress can be a great factor since you're only 19. You might be stressing w/o realizing it trying to balance school and work at the same time. Try eating smaller meals each time you eat.
