How do you make a Blue Lagoon?

I was at a bar in Canada a few years back and I had a blue lagoon. It was very tasty. When ever I try to order one here in the USA they give me something with either coconut rum or pinapple juice in it, neither of which were in this drink. All I know is its blue and very tasty....any one with any ideas on what is in it?

What you probably had was what some bartenders in the U.S call a Blue Lagoon cocktail. It is made with with the following:

Ingredients: 1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Blue Curacao
Lemonade
1 Cherry

Directions: Pour vodka and curacao over ice in a tall glass and then fill to top with Lemonade.

Where as the U.S. version of a Blue Lagoon a lot of time will be made as follows:

Ingredients:
1-shot Blue Curacao
1-shot Rum (your favorite)
6 oz Pineapple Juice
1 or 2-shots Sweet & Sour Mix
approximately 1 cup of crushed ice

Directions:
Pour all ingrediants into blender & blend.

To be on the safe side when ordering, be sure to ask how they make their drinks.

This is how the 'standard' Blue Lagoon is made (but not the same as what I do at work, we actually use a bit of pineapple juice and Malibu).. start with a tall glass (~ 16 oz) filled with ice:

1 oz (shot) Rum
1/2 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
Fill with Bar Lime Mix (aka Limeade, Sweet & Sour)

Pour the contents in a shaker tin and shake. Pour back into the glass, and add 2 floats of Blue Curacao. You can garnish it with a lime wheel and a umbrella straw for presentation..
