I have a large MS exchange migration to plan and was trying to estimate the time it's going to take, so my question is

how long does it take to export a mailbox from microsoft exchange using ExMerge

thanks

Gavin

Hey Gavin, depending on the exchange server capabilities and the size of your mailbox, it could take anywhere from a few mintues to hours. Mainly it would depend on the size of the mailbox. Another faster way to do it would be when few users are logged on to the exchange.

Unfortunately there is no hard and fast rule as it depends on how big the mailboxes are, what processors etc are in the server and what bandwidth you have if you are migrating to another server.

You could try the usual support.microsoft.com or another useful resource is slipstick.com.

A test to give you an idea would be to run exmerge on your own mailbox to a pst file. Other wise exporting your own mailbox to a .pst file will give you a general idea.
