Tylenol and Motrin are weight based medications in infants and children. To determine the proper amount of Tylenol to give, first figure out how much your baby weighs. If you have a scale at home, weigh yourself holding the baby. Then weigh yourself without the baby in your arms. Subtract the two and you'll have your baby's approximate weight. Next get a calculator and divide your baby's weight by 2.2. That will convert the weight into kilograms. You know if you did the math correct if the answer is a smaller number.
Next is to take that number and multily it by 15. That will give you the number of mg of tylenol to give. For example: A 22lb child will weigh 10kg. 10 x 15 = 150mg The infant dropper is 0.8ml = 80mg. So the proper dose in this example would be a little less then two full droppers. If you need help, you can IM me. At 6 months old, the baby maybe ready for Motrin, which I find is better for reducing fevers, but I would check with the pediatrician first before introducing a new fever reducing agent.
Good Luck

the toddler tylenol that I even have has a chart on the side for weight & age and how lots to manage. It says that for babies under 12 lbs or 0-3mths you ought to ask your well-being care provider how lots to offer her. From 12-17 or 4-11 mths it says you ought to provide a million mL.

My son is 3 1/2 months old and his Dr. told me it's based on weight. I give him .4 when he needs it and he probably weighs 13 lb. now. The package says to ask your Dr. for children under 24 lbs. and under 2 years. I would think the baby's mom has probably been told how much to give.

It goes by weight of the child not age and NO it does not say on the side of the bottle. You can also call the doctor and the nurse should tell you.

That would be about the correct amount... depending on the baby's weight.
I would listen to the mother. She's more than likely been told by her baby's pediatrician what the correct dosage is.
