Not to be short but does it matter. Anyone who kills in the name of God is clearly missing the point. False Prophesies, False Prophets and Misinterpretations are used by many of every faith all the time today and throughout history. The odd thing here is that people justify their own lustful, vengeful tendencies through the wirtings that would teach us otherwise. Christians, Jews and Muslims alike have slaughtered each other throughout time and for what? None of us even know what is right until we are gone. In essence we dont even know if there is a God or if its just a human sanitiy check on our own existence. It doesnt matter. Its all smoke and mirrors for the opposite side to say I told you so. We need to move beyond this BS or well destroy everything that we actually KNOW is real. This crap was different when we were using swords in far away lands but now the children are playing with more than knives.

that's a really good question. as far as I know, all hijackers were sunnis, since most of them were from Saudi Arabia.

As regards al-Qaeda and company, they are salafists, which is a radical school of the suni branch:
The more revolutionary tendencies in this Salafist reform movement constitute the core of today's challenge to the Sunni establishment, and are the chief font of al Qaeda's ideology.

p.s. Muslims, don't get mad at me please, I understand Islam is peaceful and only concerned about submission to God, and that the actions of few radicals are the ones that cast a shadow over your religion.
