No, it is not even a final release to the public. Full of holes and bugs.

You are better to wait 6 months after it's final release before even considering using it.

Windows Vista is Microsoft's answer to MacOS. If you havent seen the interface that a MacOS gives; please check it out at your nearest laptop vendor and you will realise what you have been missing in your computer life.

The advantage of Windows Vista over the traditional OS including XP is primarily a very user friendly interface (meaning more graphical and logical); reduced booting and shutdown time and enhanced multimedia capabilities. The Vista achieves the need for seamless integration of multimedia (video and audio) into the regular windows applications. This means in most cases you will be able to see and hear movies much better.

As far as reliability is concerned, Vista is still not released (in its final version) and hence can be persumed to be unstable. The early adopters of the beta releases have given a favourable response to the effort by Microsoft in terms of the enhanced functionality (as explained above) and believe that it is the first real good effort from Microsoft after a long time. However, going by Microsoft's track record; it is advisable not to shift to Windows Vista for atleast a year after launch so that the necessary patches are released (atleast the critical ones).

Did this help?

Wait till we get the full release and maybe you will get a better idea. It is only out in Beta right now. That means it is just for testing, and not really intended to be used. Everyone is in a big hurry to install it and the only version out there will expire so there isn't really a point.

I know of several bugs right now, and there are many diver issues. That will probably change, especially after the first service pack.

I wouldn't get it yet...if it is like everything else Microsoft has put out, wait a year or so until a service pack or 2 have come out so they can fix all the bugs.

it is technically possible to run OS/X on a Dell (google for "hackintosh" for starters), yet i'm not fullyyt useful it is criminal, nor do i think it is exceptionally uncomplicated or pleasing. For the completed Leopard adventure, you're able to need to get a Mac. in case you propose to interest, get the Dell; in case you in simple terms prefer a device that works and reasons fewer problems than domicile windows, get the Mac. in case you extremely need to nerd-out, get the Mac and set it up for triple-boot between Leopard, Vista, and Linux. Me, i like Mac OS/X for its "it in simple terms works" simplicity, and is the device/OS i could propose for 80% of the inhabitants. If I have been getting a laptop device, i could get a laptop and positioned Debian GNU/Linux on it with VirtualBox and domicile windows on desirable of VirtualBox. If I have been getting a laptop, i could easily get a Mac and twin- or triple-boot it (Leopard and Debian, and maybe some style of domicile windows -- yet not extremely domicile windows).

There is no advantage right now - nothing but problems for the casual user.

I would leave it a couple of years for all the bugs to be shaken out, and drivers for preipherals to be written.
