I know there is a park along the Chattachochee river in Roswell , GA which is not far from where you mentioned. So you may want to do an internet search for the parks long the Chattahochee river in Roswell. The park is huge, there are playgrounds for children, covered bbq and sitting areas, u can walk right up to the river. It is a public park but it is very beautiful and scenic. At that time of year you may want to go early and reserve a spot though.

You can try the Peachtree Tavern, the back terrace overlooks Piedmont park. When it goes into night time, it has a great view of downtown Atl scene. If the pricing is too high, then you can try Piedmont Park itself (completely Free), and it has a great area around it, if you want to go to bars, coffe shops, or ice cream places afterwards. The main entrance is on 10th St.

Sounds like a fun Idea, hope it goes well. :)

Just do it at Centennial Olympic Park. No charge. Great scenery of downtown. Just check to see if any other events will held that day. It's a public park, so you can do whatever you want. Good luck!

It is a bit of a drive from where you said, but have you thought about stone mountain?

If it is a picnic, have it in a public park, or state park...
