I need to find a place on the web where I can purchase a diamond solitaire engagement ring that is at least 1.0 carat or larger. This place needs to be a place to make a sound purchase, economically speaking, and have a layaway option. Thanks.

There is no layaway on the Internet.

Try Zales, Kay jewelers, Macy's, Tiffany's

Blue Nile is the best. I don't know that they have a layaway option, but you can choose your diamond based on price, size, style (round, oval, marquise, emerald, etc), clarity, color...and they are really reliable and trustworthy. Also, they let you know if the diamond is GIA certified--which is really important when buying a diamond. MAKE SURE IT'S GIA CERTIFIED!! Good luck and congratulations on your impending engagement.

Do not purchase a diamond on the internet. You cannot know the quality of the stone. This is one purchase you need to make in person so you don't get ripped off.

why would you ever want to buy a ring online? you never get to see it before you buy it. but if i was really going to buy one online i'd try one of the big name outlets. Kay jewelers, Zales, The Diamond Store. Something that isn't going to make you pay and never send it and one that has a reputation for good quality.

1. There is no web lay away- you will have to put in on a credit card.

2. Bluenile.com is good.
3. Overstock.com has great buys but you have to keep looking.
4. Ebay has some great buys- used or unset stones.

Good luck.

Please don't. No online store offers layaway, you must pay in full when purchasing. And a diamond should NEVER be bought sight unseen, that's insane! Find you local reputable independent jeweler, and tell them what you want.
