Thank-you everyone who voted.
In the end it seems the idea that people choose voluntarily to be gay won out.
I am astonished by this. I really can't understand the conclusion that being gay is a personal choice...like a job or a haircut.
Why would anyone choose to live on the fringes of society, be publicly condemned by most stratas of society, risk terrible disease....all just because of a choice.
My brother is gay and it has destroyed his life. He tried to ignore it and was married for many years but eventually his wife and he couldn't maintain the illusion of being a happily married couple.
Is it ignorance or arrogance that people believe that gay people just prefer to be vilified and outcasts ?
