If you are allergic to shrimp you are probably allergic to shellfish which would include lobster, clams scallops. Try chicken or tofu instead.

For what, in the batter? or in the "egg wash"? you can use water in the batter if you are making a batter. I have dipped stuff in water and rolled it in a dry breading and fried or "oven fried" it. chop the coconut with sharp knife to very small or put in the food processor or blender and whiz it a couple of times. Add your seasonings to this and a little cornmeal or whole wheat flour. Dip the shrimp in water and roll in the breading blend. Lay on oil misted baking sheet. Mist with more oil and bake in 350 F oven or fry. It is much better baked than fried.

Almost any firm whitefish...you can also use crabmeat, scallops and in some recipes you can subsitute chicken and it doesnt hurt the recipe only changes the flavor a little.....Good luck...and enjoy !!!
