...then why isn't there a great public outcry to outlaw fornication, adultery, and using the Lord's name in vain?

Aren't those sins as well? Doesn't it say in the bible that ALL sin is equal, no sin outweighs any other? Why then aren't they crying about adultery as well?

I always get freaked out when religious zealots pick and choose which sins they chastise. How many of them do you think are fornicators? (Just about every one I ever met.)

OMG, people, read the question!!

I am stunnned by the answers that indicate that these sins are victimless (aside from abortion).

When you commit adultery, isn't your spouse a victim?

People can make their own decisions as to whether or not to fornicate, be an adulterer, use God's name in vain etc. but an unborn child has no way to speak up. That's why the world is trying to speak for them.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do about Christians. We don't always give a good accounting of ourselves in the public arena. We believe that God is the Creator of all life, and that life begins at conception. We single out abortion because it has been legalized, and that it destroys a human being without their choice. "Fornication", or sex outside of marriage, carries with it the potential of creating life quite by accident, and it is the reason that abortion has been made legal. Adultery, or extra-marital sex, causes so much pain to so many people that the momentary pleasure it might bring pales in comparison. Using the Lord's name in vain dishonors God, who created you. The Bible does not say that all sin is equal, but it does say that all have sinned. I am no better than you or anyone else. I do not judge you. That's not my job. The reason that God calls something "sin" is often because of the pain it causes or the life it destroys. I pray that you will bring Jesus Christ into your life. Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

It relies upon at this style of contraceptives. as quickly as concept occurs there only isn't yet another individual like the only meant to be born. Your good judgment doesnt carry. Your stunning premarital intercourse will in no way stop, yet thats not the difficulty. the difficulty is whats stunning and incorrect. there is not any such element as YOUR certainty and MY certainty. the reality which you even point out which you think of abortion isnt an incredible element skill you already know some thing is misguided with it. Its in us all, it relies upon on what we do with it or how lots we surpress it. Scraping a woman out isn't the respond. formerly intercourse is the time to make the appropriate "possibilities". i in my opinion have faith that contrceptives that forestall concept are ok. hi i ought to get laid.

Christians DO speak out against adultery, fornication, cursing God's name, etc. etc.

We have no control over people who do these things. So you are wrong to say we pick and choose our sins to fight.

Abortion , in my book, is worse because it kills a baby.
Heck, how many liberals fight against the clubbing of baby seals and the killing of animals for fur coats yet they are ok with killing a innocent human baby......Priorities I guess

And I know your next arguement.....Everyone, even Christians sin

This is true, but a true Chrostians tries to NOT sin.....everyone fails to some degree. The difference is, if you fail and are sorry ( as a Christian) and repent, you are forgiven. If you don't care and knowingly committ these sins, you are NOT forgiven.

You say you "get freaked out when religious zealots pick and choose which sins they chastise"

I get the same feeling from people like yourself when go out of your way to always try to make all Christians look bad .

Trying to make a good thing look like a bad thing doesn't work.

Who knows, maybe some day you'll come around to our side and actually see what it's all about

You might like what you find out if you give yourself a chance..
Have a goodun...............

Takes one to know one.

You of course are correct, but when you fornicate you are only starting to kill a relationship, not a human being as in abortion, you are not giving the unborn its right to be born, or its right to choose to be born, miscarriages happen because the unborn child's spirit decides that this is not the right time to come into this world after all.

You may be surprised to find that many who appose abortion aren't even church goers but merely human beings who know that killing an innocent child before it can be formed into existance is a sin, it is up to God to decide the consequence we are only trying to stop the crime.

He who is without sin cast the first stone, you are a sinner too, we all are, some are more abhorent and we feel a need to protect the innocent.

Now THAT would be something to see: People getting big fines and being thrown in jail for cheating on their spouses. Walking down the street you hear someone say "Oh my God" and all of a sudden a cop appears and hands them a ticket for taking the Lord's name in vain.
If you ask me, it would be a step in the right direction.

Before you go, how about this: "What are you in for?" "I lied to my boss" "Ouch . . 24 months for you"

Christians, acting according to their faith, would not justify fornication or any of those other things...the question is with respect to what should be enforced by way of civil laws. Typically this nation, being a Christian nation, has given citizens great freedoms to follow their own freewill as long as it does not infringe upon the rights of another. And so this is where abotions laws come into play. For the Word of God tells us these are lives that are being taken through abortion....whereas those who do not believe I imagine feel that no one's freedom's are being infringed upon through abortion...

I do not concider myself a fundalmentalist or zealot, but I am against abortion, sex before marriage (or at least sex before the legal age of adulthood) and using the Lord's name in vain. I've thrown my own father out of my house for cursing in front of me. I'm very much against adultery. However, it's not picking and choosing sins, it's picking our battles. We believe we might be able to win against abortion, but the others will take far longer to fight.

Oh, not a fornicator, sweetie. Virgin.

All sins are not equal.

Abortion is murder of the cruelest and lowest kind, a mother murdering her own child, in her own womb.

It doesn't get any worse than that.

If you had any sense you would have realized that before you posted your ridiculous "question".

Yes your right....

Remember, you could be aborting another einstein, but at the same time you could be aborting the next hitler...

Come to think of it, wouldn't it be interesting if the anti-christ were aborted?
