One reason girls put tattoos on their lower back is to cover up hair. You know, peach fuzz that we all have there.

Another reason is so you have something to look at when their jeans ride down when they squat or bend over.

You can still get an epidural. The tattoo is only directly under the skin and does not effect an epidural. I asked my tattoo artist this when I got my back tattoo.

I have a lower back tattoo, I also had the epidural with my last child. Never heard that before.

No this is not true. My wife has a large butterfly tattoo on her lower back and there was no complications with her epidural

are you kidding.... I can't believe you believe this.
Think about this....if that were true, then someone with a tattoo on his arm could not get an IV then.... How much sense does that make?
Furthermore...what on earth would cause you not being able to take an epidural?... The ink of a tattoo only goes into the skin.... an epidural goes into the spine.

It's not true. If the tattoo is freshly done, which I hope if your pregnant it isn't. Then the doctor might have a little problem putting and epiqdural in, but if you have had the tattoo for a long time then there is no problem.

Hmm.... I can't see why that would have anything to do with anything. My friends get shots in their arms. They have huge tattoos. But, of course, getting a vacination is different than a epidural.
