Am a muslim myself.and am kindda new at yahoo answer .but from what i see in the religion sections and searching thro questions about Islam. i see allot ov women or men with other beliefs, think that Muslim women are oppressed and they hav no right etc..
as a non-muslim or muslim women or man.. what do u think about the subject.. or if u ask a question about Islam and women in islam ..and u get a positive answer from a muslim women. what do u think about that?

i am Muslim women and i see alot of ppl here who think that Muslims women doesn't have rights or they get control by their husband ..they tells a lot of false facts about Islam and Muslims
some times about the law of Islam .. they flip all the facts .. i know now where they get their knowledge ..they get it from the media no more no less or some times from websites of hater ppl.

In general, most muslim women are not oppressed. However, women are oppressed in certain cultures, i.e., do you know any women from Saudi Arabia? I think men in power there use Islam as an excuse to oppress women. I'm sure it happens with every religion, you can twist it to meet your needs. However, in general I think Muslim women are treated with respect by men in their religion. Although, they do seem to have a separate but equal philosophy (i.e., don't sit in mosque together, sometimes eat dinner separately in a large group).

I think that some Muslim women are oppressed, but the media shows a lot more oppressed Muslim women than those that really exist. I think it's sad that people libel Islam so much. I think Muhammad (pbuh) would be outraged at what the media has turned his teachings of Allah into.
You'll see a lot of hate against Islam in these forums. It's sad.
As a Pagan, it is my duty to learn about "foreign" religions and explore their teachings. That is why I will never slander Islam.

you see I am a Muslim Boy and I think that people not only in Yahoo Answer but worldwide do not understand why muslim woman cover and what for. Even if you still tell them, they will still keep their eyes close until you follow what they want you to follow them. Nowadays, Muslims in America are being pressured and picked on just because what we believe in. Where is the freedom of religion?

yet a Hijab isn't an entire overlaying. To wrap your self like a candy,you will desire to be donning a niqab. Neither of that's appropriate placed on in a loose society which includes mine-great Britain.

Islam gives women more rights than Christianity.
not because some women are oppressed by their husbands in some tribal societies, means that Islam is the reason!!

I think Muslim women are oppressed and treated badly. I think it's very brave of a Muslim woman to get on yahoo and express her opinion, considering her religion and husband don't allow it. I only feel compassion toward Muslim women and don't hate them or think badly of them. I wish I could reach out to them and help them somehow. Jesus died for our sins so we could have a relationship with God. We need to accept Him as our savior in order to get into heaven. Good luck and God bless you!

I just feel sorry for them. The ones up here always defend their submission and status with quotes from the Koran and swear up and down they aren't oppressed, however, in the same breath, they admit they have to have their husbands permission to go to the grocery store.
Is it apples or oranges? It doesn't matter to me either way. I take full advantage of the freedom I have in the US as a black female. More power to them.
