My Lab was excessively shedding until I found the right food. Everything I read said their diet has a lot to do with it. And I tried everything, he has always been on the top of the line foods and supplements and it did not work. Right now he is on Royal Canin Labrador Retriever 30 and is doing amazing. Check out your dogs food you may need to change or add something to it.

Some dogs shed when they are nervous, when they are excited, when they are stressed and they also shed seasonally...some dogs shed all year long. Watch how much hair is left of the exam table next time you take your dog to the vet. Or all the hair that falls out when you pick your dog up from the groomer or kennel and they are excited to see you.
NOTHING will stop shedding..ALL dogs shed. Bathing and daily brushing will loosen all the dead coat. Try a Zoom Groom or a shedding blade on your dog...those work pretty good.
Ask your groomer if he/she offers a low shed or a shed-less program too. It can help reduce shedding up to 80% on some dogs.

There is a product called Shed X and it helps control your dogs shedding. The mfg. is Synergy Labs. I am sure you can find an online pet supply store that sells the product. You add it to your dogs food daily and it reduces shedding in 4 weeks or less. You may also want to try a supplement for anxiety. It will help calm your dog down. My dog is the same way and we use either
Pet Calm™
Calms nervous animals. Use prior to anxiety-causing events.
Pet Happy™
St. John’s Wort helps to relieve depression and separation anxiety. Use daily.
Both are from Synergy Labs also.
Here is a site that you can buy the products from:

I hope this helps!

Shedding is also seasonal. Certain breeds of dogs shed more than others. I have Yorkies with long hair and I rarely find any of their hair, but I have a chihuahua and his short hair sheds more. We brush him every morning and that helps.
I've never heard the "nervous dog" theory, but I'm not a vet....

have you tried to brush him? Some dogs shed at the end of the season preparing for the next season whether it be a heavier fur or lighter fur depending on the weather. But if you lovingly brush you pet and talk soothingly to him he will love these special time with you. You will bond with him, remove the excessive hair and sooth him if he is nervous all in a few daily sessions.

If you take your dog to the groomer, that may help you out some. That can remove the dead hairs, and that may help out on the shedding more. Brushing your dog daily is a cheaper way, but maybe time consuming, but both should help out with your dog's shedding problem.

shed stop is a product you can buy on line or at a vet to stop or slow down shedding. Good grooming and bathing should help also.

Some dogs shed more than others. Food also plays a big part of it also. Check to see if your dog food has enough oils and protien. Most grocery store food is carbohydrate fillers.
