My wife is due in March and we find out the gender the 27th of this month. We've been discussing different names for each sex and can't really find any we really like. So far, for a boy, we like Pierson (my middle name), Tanner (My mom's side of the family last name), Jackson, Ryker, and my favorite, Espen or Espin (aka espn). Any suggestions are appreciated and personally, I just like cool, original names, nothing common like Adam, my name. Thanks!

Espen or Espin (aka ESPN) is not a good name for a child. You do realize that whatever name you choose for your child is a reflection of your culture, education or upbringing and your child will carry that label with them for the rest of their life (unless they change their name, which creates a whole other set of problems).
I know that movie stars do it but realistically their children will never have to make their own way or put their name on a resume.
Pierson, Tanner, Jackson and Ryker are very strong, easy to spell and successful sounding names. And FYI, I think Adam is a really nice name too and I only personally know one person named Adam (a second cousin).

You might think about combining a name. The lady that raised me was named Bronna (I had never heard of that name before) My step mother is named LaVerne When I had my girl, I named her LaBronna. It was a mouthfull at first, but now it is so natural. I knew that would be her name the first time someone said it. I just wished I had used that for her first name instead of middle. It's confusing in school and on other forms asking for her first name.

Given names should, I believe, indicate family continuity and thus carry an historical family context. Your own suggestions seem far superior to any of the others mentioned above.
Congratulations to you and your wife, and health and happiness to the new person you bring into this world.

My husband and I have Jackson Scott (Jack for short) and Liam Orion picked out for a boy and Jillian Jewel for a girl. They are original but not too weird.

What if it is a girl? Well... I like: Hannah, emma, gracie, Taryn, ellie and avery....My son's name is Andersen after my mom's maiden name. It took a few people a min to warm up to but he is three months old now and it just fits him perfectly. I also like: Logan, Morgan and other not so traditional names for boys... it is hard...good luck
