Well, this is easy. I'm a transplant nurse. I worked as a Liver/Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Registered Nurse for 2 years and am now working as a Heart/Lung Transplant RN. I see people come to the hospital for transplants. Some die waiting for an organ to come available and many live after receiving a new organ. Watching someone go from a grave illness to a miraculous recovery is nothing less than amazing. It's like giving birth to a person. We call it their 2nd birthday.

The entire process is amazing. Most of the people that get new organs are so grateful for their second chance of life. They praise the people that died for them and their family members that made the decision to donate the organs.

It's very noble for someone to donate their organs. I wish more people would do it. You don't need your organs in Heaven or where ever you're going after this life. Let someone else benefit from it.

If you decide to donate after your death, you have to tell your family members because they will be the ones making that decision. It doesn't matter if you have a peice of paper that says you'll donate or even if you have it on your driver's license. You still need to tell your family.

I'm going to be an organ donor. I'm very specific as well. My husband will be telling where my organs are to be donated. To the very Transplant floor I work on. You can do that too.

Best wishes to everyone.

i am all for it...well kind of...i wont donate blood anymore because they have bust my veins too many times so i have to walk around looking like a junkie for a week...and my veins are too small to donate plasma (the needle breaks my veins just from the movement of me breathing).
i will donate any use-able organs when i die. and if i end up with cancer or any other disease i will donate the affected organs for research. i plan on doing this because they cannot cure diseases that they do not understand. as for donating organs to others when i die, i think it is a good way to help people after your death. if someone can have a longer life because of my organs, they should be able to.

Organ donation is a great program, however, it is very misinformed. Many people do not know that in order to donate your vital organs (heart, liver, lungs), you must be alive and on life support. If you simply die and then donate, your organs are not transplanted into another human, they are used for dissection.

I am for donating blood and organs. My son may need an organ transplant someday, and I think its wonderful to give someone some extra years with your organs. What would you do with your organs being dead anyway?

For them all.
Blood and plasma are easy to donate regularly, and require little pain. They can save lives and all it costs me is 30 minutes of my time.
When I am dead, I won't need my organs, so it's better than someone else gets them who does need them. Of course, I don't want to be dead. My corneas can make someone who is blind, see. My skin and bones can be used for grafts. It's the ultimate in recycling.

absolutely for. you simply do not need to take your rotting organs into the ground with you. transplant lists of all organs will rise 500% in the next 20 years. you'll need something from some one some day too.

im for it, but i think you should choose to whether you want to be a donor or not early in life. and if you choose not to be, you cant get an organ later if you need one
