I'm having an op this week, but haven't (yet) been told the recovery time, i'm curious if any one knows what this is for a Ganglion removal and minor tendon repair? (I know this will depend on my case but any rough idea will help)
I'm being admitted overnight.

Thanks!

From an anaesthetic point of view, you should be fully recovered after 48 hours. You must not drive or do anything which requires any degree of judgement during this time, as you are still classed as being under the influence of drugs - even if you feel perfectly ok. You also need to be aware of some of the potential complications from anaesthetic - if you're young and medically fit these will be very rare. The main ones are chest infection and deep vein thrombosis. Do some deep breathing exercises - this will prevent secretions settling at the bases of your lungs post-op, do this for about a week or so afterwards. Do give yourself plenty of time to recover by resting, but make sure you get up an have a 5 minute walk around every couple of hours. This will help prevent DVT (blood clot in the leg).

From a surgical point of view, you may need to keep your hand elevated while resting, you probably won't need a sling, just keep it up on a cushion while you're sitting. Don't disturb the wounds for the first 48 hours, this is so that healing can begin properly. After that time, look out for signs of wound infection: redness, swelling, discharge or increased pain. If you notice anything like this, see your GP. Because you're having a tendon repair you may need some physiotherapy afterwards - this may just involve the physiotherapist showing you what exercises to do to stop your hand stiffening up.

If you work, don't go back until the stitches come out, which is usually between 7 and 10 days post-op. It may take longer than that depending on the nature of your job. Good luck, you'll be fine. :)

Mine was into hospital in the early morning, operated on late morning, discharged home 4pm!
Admittedly I went home feeling a bit groggy but after a good night's sleep I felt much better. By the end of the week I was back to full speed and using the hand (carefully!).
