There is no ideal answer to this question because there are too many variables. If you start dating someone when you're 14 you would probably expect to date longer before marriage than a couple who meets when they are 30. If one or more of the people are still in school and are not financially stable then that can be a factor. If a woman is approaching the end of her child-bearing years then it would make sense that she would not want as lengthy of a dating relationship before getting engaged.

FYI, I dated my husband 4 1/2 years before we got married. And I would have been willing to wait a lot longer... although I am glad we didn't!!! :)

What is it with you women?
It's always something with you.
Let me assure you....it's not the guys that you have a problem with...its you. If it isn't one thing it's another.
I call it a chaos junky. You need chaos. If there isn't any there you have to make up some. Inject something that will cause chaos.
Look...if it isn't broken...DONT FIX IT!!!
There is absolutely nothing you can do today as an unmarried couple, that you can't do as a married couple. So why do you have to be married?
All that does is make you feel trapped and want out. That is why we have a 60%+ divorce rate today. Nobody believes in Marriage today.
Just be happy and enjoy your fun time.
If you are together 10yrs and happy...And you still need to be married, for some ungodly reason, then go get married.
If not... Just enjoy your life for now.

Froever if you love him...why does there have to be a piece of paper saying you love each other? you tell each other don't you? If you love him you should love and stay with him through all things. You can vow this to each other without marriage. If you feel you have to have a cremony, do a mock one so that it's not legally binding but you can still go through the steps.

Love is the answer to everything. All you ever need is love,
communication and understanding. That's what I figured out so
far. If you are down, you need to get up and start doing something with
your life. Don't need to be shy, be straight forward and allways say what
you want and expect from the others.

If you have the time, and you are looking for someone, complete this simple
form and start dating.
