Since the U.S. is over 8 TRILLION dollars in debt (most of it held by second & third world nations like China and India), and since the baby boomers will obviously break the bank when they start to retire and draw Social Security (it will require more money than all of the taxes ever collected in the entire history of the U.S. to continue to fund S.S. at its current level after the boomers all retire), then I would say that our debt will crush our economy in less that a generation.

if only you fully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today. For the LORD your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.

A third world country, probably never but there are other superpowers in the world now such as China and the EU. The US is now only first amongst equals rather than the one global superpower and I doubt if they'll even remain that for much longer given the balance of payments deficit and the cost of the Iraq war.

I agree that we're going to be come a third world nation - though for different reasons than you state.
We're now not even in the top ten countries in education, science, and finance.
The only thing we're number one is military might (well, and arrogance.)
It's interesting that you would equate a lack of God with 3rd world countries - they are usually the MOST religious nations on earth.

Why is it always a supernatural reason? It will be a long time before that could ever happen, but it won't be because we "allowed evil" to cross an imaginary line in the sand.

be a couple of years.. yet..But the Lord can speed things up if he wishes.. I believe that we are being given a time to repent and that the natural disasters are just warnings that the big one is coming..
Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Rev 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
Rev 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
