these are CD's that i've burned and some of them will rip, and some won't. I've read all the troubleshooting tips and that doesn't seem to work either. The cd's won't even play in the pc but they play in the car and also in the cd player in kitchen and family room. What the heck is the deal? Step by step instructions please... i'm a computer moron. I am using windows media 11.

my cd drive is not broken. As I stated in my question, some of my burned CD's will rip. Others won't. I am not certain, but I believe that I did (in the past) try and burn some cd's as mp3's and my car won't play those. The cd's I'm trying to rip DO play in the car. I want to have back ups though since I have kids and my cd's tend to get scratched easily and quickly.

none of these answers worked. So as far as picking a best, they aren't right so I can't pick one.
