Actually, if a person states that his beliefs are perfect, or impossible for them to be wrong, they are not necessarily saying they are God, but are rather saying that their faith is perfect, and they have learned all there is to know, which goes against so much of the Bible it isn't even funny.

Faith is the belief in those things unseen, and trust that those things will lead to salvation. A belief is simply an interpretation, and thus it is quite possible for it to be incorrect from the original intent of the author.

A true Christian (and I am assuming you are talking about Christians due to your reference to the 1st commandment), will never make this statement, but rather will use the Bible to back up his or her statements, and be willing to further study an issue to see what the Bible says on the matter.

Personal opinion - anyone who states it is impossible for their beliefs to be wrong has stopped studying, and thus their faith is "dead". The "my way or the highway" approach to religion is why there are so many people who have no use for religion in any form.

Not necessarily, there are many different ways to look at an issue. It may be great faith. I have faith my beliefs are right, but it doesn't make me God. The first commandment doesn't prohibit faith.

If I say that it is impossible for God to be wrong, am I not honoring Him, as per the first commandment?
Are you honoring Him, do you think?

No, it is not that we are saying that we are God, or individually, that "I am God" because what I believe is absolutely true. We are saying that GOD is absolutely TRUE and the ONLY One Who is. He has preserved His Word to us and "Let God be true and every man a liar." Romans 3:4
