My brother calls me DumDum he's been calling me that since we were kids. I think its because it takes me a minute to get a joke. I don't mind now I know he doesn't mean anything by it, Its just something that he calls me.

My mom gave me the name "puff" when I was a baby. I am now 29 and my sisters still call me that. It used to really piss me off when I was like 11-17 and I wouldn't acknowledge them, but it's been soooo long that it would be weird if they called me by my name. I wonder if they even know my real name? And my husband has also given me a nickname "sugar booger" It's so funny at family gatherings I am called so many different names it sometimes confuses others that are not that close to us

I have had several nicknames over the years:-

CHEF - when I was a cook in the Navy.

THE COMMANDO - when I used to escape from my ship over the mooring ropes to go ashore when under stoppage of leave.

SAILOR - when I was chef after the navy.

ROMEO - when a little girl saw me as a father figure and thought I was cool.

HOMER SIMPSON/ALF GARNET/VICTOR MELDREW - my children called me that, I don't know why.

BIG TING KEITH - when a jamaican woman wanted to marry me so that she could get residency in the UK.

UNCLE FESTER - people call me that nowadays for some reason.

I don't always agree that such nicknames are appropriate but I do not mind being called them.

I've had a lot of nicknames over the years. My name is Amanda and everyone I meet automatically shortens it to Manda, some go so far as Mandie. It doesn't bother me at all. My friends call me Manda Panda,it's a sign of affection and love so I like it. My roommate calls me Pickles sometimes due to a drunken trip to the grocery store one night and it makes me laugh. Odd nicknames are usually fun reminders of things you've done with friends so I wouldn't think a lot of people mind. It might bother me if he tried to call me at work and asked for "pickles" but other than that, its fun. When I was a little girl I couldn't properly say my sister's name, Hillary, and called her Re-Re, so now the whole family still calls her that, Nicknames can be fun because it makes you feel like part of a group, closer to your friends and all that. We have a friend we call "Krusty" and for the first 5 months I knew him, I didn't know his real name because EVERYONE calls him that!

My name is Rebecca and one day somebody bought me a t shirt with totally reebok written on it, and the name reebok just stuck. All my friends call me it now, and no I don't mind. In fact I find it quite endearing. My partner calls me bug, because when we met I was at a fancy dress party dressed as antz from the movie!!

Hmmm... I've never had a nick name last more than five minutes. For some reason, nicknames just don't seem to still with me.

My sister's friends all call me Letterman and have ever since I was really young. I'm not sure how I got the nickname, but it doesn't bother me to be called that. I just had to come up with nicknames for them. I think Toad is the best one I came up with.
