its higher up than my anus, but it always keeps showing its ugly face. I put all kinds of gels, ointments on it, to help it heal, but it will last for weeks before it finally heals. Everytime i sit down on the toilet it splits right back open. What could be causing this?

this could be from a fungal infection. fungus likes a warm moist environment. a very good former rx only antifungal is lamisil. you can now get this at any pharmacy over the counter. good luck

you may have a pilonydal cyst. This may be treated with a surgery. You may also have fistula that needs attention. This would require surgery to fix the problem. Go see a physician for a real diagnosis and treatment.

could be some skin disease. after it heal, a new skin is formed, but it gets dry and crack easily. consult a doc for the right medication. wrong types of medication can worsten your wound.

until you can see a doctor, try sitting in a tub of hot water and add some epsom salt to it. You really need to see a Dr. though....good luck and I hope it all works out in the end...... ;)

if its on your tail bone it could be a pynodial sinus ,this is an ingrowing hair that occurs here and it has to be removed surgically as it wont clear up on its own

maybe you have a cyst. pylinidol.....not sure of the spelling. go to the doc.
