Ombsessive Compulsive Disorder is NOT a weakness, it is a condition you are BORN with and that you had NOTHING to do with bringing about. I've had it all my life --- 59 years old now --- and I stiil sometimes get mad at myself or frustrated about it, but then I remind myself that my psychiatrist told me that when you are born with a condition like this --- or panic, anxiety, depression --- you will always have it, but between therapy and the proper prescription medication your condition can be made somewhat less severe. There is a big component of depression behind the OCD, so it wouldn't hurt to talk to a therapist a bout what is deprressing you (other than just the OCD itself). Good luck with getting better, but please remember, it takes TIME!

Suggestion:

Work slowly on one of these things at a time. With the reading, maybe keep a timer by you when you start to open email at home. When you sit down, set the timer for 30 seconds and press start when you open an email, when it goes off, the noise will stop you from what you are doing and distract your attention. Try little things like that to start moving in the right direction.

With telling people to do things the right way. Maybe try asking why they do it that way. That way you can learn something and it goes from being bossy and negative to a learning experience.

Going to a psychologist or therapist is a good idea. They can give you suggestions on how to curb your ocd's. YOU will have to put in the work though. Just going on meds might seem easier, but it will be more beneficial to you to try taking baby steps to controlling your ocds.

You really need help to deal with this. Go and see your doctor and, I hope, s/he will refer you to a psychologist. There are various therapeutic approaches which can be used to help you with this condition; a doctor may give you a prescription to deal with the anxiety which OCD inevitably causes but you also need a 'talking therapy' to deal with the excesses of your disorder and to help you to take control. Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) has been used with some effect and there are other therapies too.

Don't suffer in silence - you NEED help as soon as possible. Good luck with finding appropriate professionals for this. RJS
