Or did he find a fork halfway so that Mary could remain a Virgin?

And guess where he detoured through?

If Jesus was born as Christian claim he was born by a Virgin then it would be impossible for him to claim he comes from the line of David. Rev. 22:16 "I am the root and offspring of David." Joseph his supposed to be surrogate father was directly link to the family of King David therefore in the vein of Jesus should run the blood of Joseph to have a true claim as the offspring of David since Mary does not come form the line fo David.
Virgin birth was just a mythical copy of the virgin birth of The Roman, Egyptian or Greek mythologies.
The Hebrew or Aramaic words use in the Book of Isaiah would only mean "Son of a young Woman" not necessarily a virgin. Joseph must have been worried of the repercussion under Jewish Law should it be discovered that Mary got pregnant out of wedlock but this has to happen and God may not have been so particular about that but rather just a sign that a boy shall just be born by a young woman and coming from the line of David. Not necessarily impregnated by the Holy spirit as the religions suggested since the Holy Spirit is the Word of God put into the mouth of His chosen ones.
