Do not know a lot about computers . Do,es any one know how to clean the Hard Drive on a computer .

Download a small free program called CCleaner from here

Assuming that you wish to remove all of the unnecessary files on the drive and that you are running windows XP, the easiest place to start is by running the XP disk cleanup utility.
Go to Start>My Computer and then right click on the drive icon and select properties. (it will be the last option on the list).
You will see a pie chart representation of the drive. Just below that graph is the disk cleanup button. Press it and wait a few seconds for the machine to calculate the space that you can free.
Start by clicking on the more options tab. Here you have three options available.
Ignore Windows components.
Click on the installed programs tab. The computer will take a few seconds to process the list of all of the programs installed. Check down the list and remove all of the programs that you don't use/want. Just click on the change/remove button on each and follow the instructions. Be careful not to remove any programs that you will need . Then close Add/Remove programs.
Click on the system restore clean up button. doing this will remove all of the restore points on the computer. USE WITH CAUTION. As the only restore point that remains will be the last one created. If you have any problems with your computer that may require system restore to fix you will not be able to go back. This will however free a LOT of space on the drive.
When this is done, click the disk cleanup tab again. ensure all of the boxes have ticks in them and click ok. Windows will then clear all of the files that it considers to be unnecessary.
This should clear loads of space on the drive and help the machine to run faster.

I have assumed a couple of thigs here but I hope this helps.

Software or hardware cleaning? I'm guessing software...

If its windows xp, try going to start/program files/accessories/system tools/disk cleanup. That will free up quite a bit of space on your computer.

If you want to reformate, insert the windows cd in the computer and restart. If it doesn't boot the cd, you have to make your way to bios to set the boot order to boot the cd drive first.

if you want to delete everything on the hard drive you need to create a boot disk and re-format your hard drive, this will erase everything. Or to delete certain programs open the control panel and go to add/remove programs, here you can choose wat programs you want to delete.
