My daughter has a little burn on her neck from the straightening iron that I use to press her hair. What should I put on it and how long will it take to heal to get it back looking normal? I put some neospirin on it already.

Whatever you do, do not listen to old wives tales - putting butter or oils on a burn seal in heat as well as increasing risk of infection. If the burn begins to hurt, it is ok to put ice on it to ease the pain. Neosporin and other antibiotic ointments are the best thing you can do to prevent infection. If you are afraid she might have a scar, put vitamin e on it daily, after the burn itself is healed.

Using Aloe always helps. The Aloe plant has a gel. If you have one, you could break a piece off and rub the gel on the burn. If you have an ointment with aloe in it also helps ease the pain.

If you have some serum (what we use on our faces to regenerate the cells) that usually works really well too. It's supposed to regenerate the cells more quickly so the old ones die/fall off and the new ones surface.

Neosporin was a good choice and possibly aloe vera?

U can put some burn cream on it and just keep the neosporin on it. It should be better in a week or so unless she picks at it...

Once the scab has fallen off and its pink, start using Maderma on it. That will keep her from developing a permanent scar.

Do you have an aloe vera plant? That's what I always use. If you don't have that an aloe vera product might help.
