Before you rant and rave about this remember that the Iran president says that Israel should be wiped off the map one day and then say Oh we love Jews, and non jews, christians and non christians the next. And what's up with this continual BS from N Korea, setting off missiles and now setting off a nuke, just to get attention. It's just not right if you ask me, that when the world confronts N Korea and says that we don't like you setting off bombs and missiles in Asia, And they come back with we want 500,000 tons of rice. They have tried to cheat the system repeatedly by using fear and intimidation like Saddam used to just to get what they want. You can say all you want about the U.S. and other established countries having and testing nuclear weapons, yet putting sanctions on sadistic little gimpy countries for doing the same, and your argument won't hold because these so called super power countries don't rely on money couterfeiting and laundering and black mail to get what they want

That would be like me saying I threw rocks at your car because the stripes on the road scare me. Completely ridiculous.

No so, if you look at the negotiation and progress under the Clinton administration, much of this confrontation issue could have been avoided. Yes, they are a nation in distress and trying to find a way out but because big America holds them to be fearful communists, we have done our best to keep them from any chance of an economic future. From the Korean War to the present, we have done our very best to stiffle any chance they have had to improve their shabby economy. Kim is a megalomaniacal person, and he was made so by his father, Kim Il Sung and that worsens matters,,,,The US with-hold help to nations that they can't subjugate....look at Vietnam...and North Korea....we can't stand it when we lose...and North Korea is trying to shift things a little to their advantage.....hell China would give them a million tons of rice but that isn't the point. Face is also part of the whole problem, we need to treat them as equal human beings and the US is not very good at that...the world has to respect them, not as outcasts because the US deems them so....who made the US the world cops?....The US.

Well Trouts answer is a bit off but N. Korea is runn by a very smart Nut and its scary. I'm sure there is some sense to the idea if the superpowers are afraid not to make him happy because he's a "loaded" gun they will try to applease him- same with IRAN. Its all about control of their people, and money and power-problem is, their type of control kills, starves, tortures and hurts people. deprives them of education and freedoms- depending on the leader, country and such---history rewriting but with bigger scarier weapons and in our and our childrens lifetime I think it will "come down"....maybe all generations fear this sort of thing but spears and arrows were easier to avoid....

Bush by invading Iraq and other very questionable activities such as unloading 2,000 tons of depleted uranium has caused a new arms race .

The only way it seems to protect oneself against the US is to have a nuke - So thats what they are all going to try to get.

We are closer to WW3 now that Bush has tried to make us all safer than ever before .

There are more terrorists seeking to do harm to the US than there was before there is more likelyhood of attacks both conventional and nuclear now than ever before .

This does not seem to be a good period in history - Maybe it will pass uneventually but the stakes are getting higher and higher and the odds do not seem to be in our favour.

They have to be lucky once we have to miss one thing once - that is not a good equation at all - Is it?

I do, but for the reason the USA pressures other countries to obey international law and it's views are that Iran and N Korea won't and don't. You could call it fear of mad men if you like.
