The fact that Puritans begat more Puritans is evidence they engaged in sex as vigorously as the rest of us non-Puritans.

Puritans believed that sex was for procreation (to have kids) and recreation.
It was designed for married couples only and that married couples should not deny their spouses sex. It was encouraged.
They did not believe sex was evil. Nor did they think it was something you had to get over with to have kids. Actually, puritans typically enjoyed a healthy sex life in the confines of marriage.

A lot more casual than most Christians now. They had pretty tough lives, but found ways to enjoy themselves.

Don't do it, but if you must do it, since it is your duty to procreate, close your eyes and hold your breath and plug your ears and get it over with, and never admit that you did it.
