How did they build those one person bridges?

that goes from one spot of ground over a river about 1000 foot down and land on the other side.The bridges with 4 ropes and planks of wood.Idk if this is in the right catagory or not

I've seen them built by two people. One on each bank, one throws (by various means) a 'lead' rope across to the other, this will be the anchor rope. It is now a matter of doing this a couple of times and slowly incorporating the planks once the network of ropes is in place. I know this explanation is vague, but I've actually seen it done. Also try googling for rope bridge building.

Depending on the $$, they are often done by helicopter
