My guess is it's lamb that is steam recovered from the carcass and includes any other parts not used for anything else. It is then formed into that oh so familiar cone shaped thing. In Turkey you get the same cone shaped thing but it is actually made of slices of actual recognisable lamb!! I had a Donner kebab on Saturday after 6 pints of beer. I did not watch them make it and i refused any sauce. I wiped it round my drunken face for ten minutes or so and it was absolutely delicious. Don't ask me why...it just was.

I dont care what it looks like, coz once ive had a good drink i could murder an actual elephant to get a kebab covered in garlic sauce with chips in a pitta argh heaven!

They are absolutely DISGUSTING! They are all the offcuts of leftover meat, fat and binding agents squashed up together and shaped into your giant elephant foot.
I prob wouldnt even eat one if I was paid to.
I remember hearing a story a few years back about how people found maggots in the middle because the huge foot is consistently kept warm and becomes a good breeding ground for all sorts of nastys.
Think twice before ordering one on the piss...

donner kebad is gorgeous, I once went to a factory where they made them only the best quality meat and spices went into them there.. i dont know about your local kebab place, and anyway elephants legs are much bigger than that, they look more like a big fat womans legs to me..

I hadn't noticed until you said that. Mind you, my local kebab show is always so busy, by the time I get in for my kebab, it looks like a cigar!!!!!

Don't care what it looks like - it's lovely after a few bevies. I think one of those cookery progammes actually discovered that the donner meat is actually made from good quality ingredients - so I won't give them up!
