The Chair which is only jumped once on the course is the highest jump and the scariest.

The Chair is the largest at 6ft high, with a 5ft 2" ditch. It is the 15th of the 30 fences and is only jumped once during the race, on the first circuit (there are actually only 16 fences on the course, but 14 of them are jumped twice).
Not as many horses as you would think fall at this fence, horses are not bothered by large fences - they are there to scare the jockeys!

The fences have an added problem for horses, the famous drop fences where the landing side of the fence is lower than the take off side, this means the horse approaching the fence is unaware of the drop until in the air. At The Chair Fence the reverse of this occurs. It is the biggest fence on the course and the landing side is higher than the take off.

The Chair is the Highest 6ft 6in and it taken on a left turn...... Beaches brook is the deepest at 6 ft 6in ..! and 5ft 6 high...
All are Horse killers... nuff said.
