Often the first generalisation is to consider that all unbelievers are atheists, without making the difference between atheists, agnostics, and those who don't give a damn.

It is a BIG generalization. We atheists have been generalized as evil, hateful, responsible for the world's problems, etc. I even saw on television where some a**clown equates us with communists.
The funny thing is, the same people that make these generalizations probably don't realize that some of us are outstanding citizens of society. I am willing to bet that most people, since I don't reveal that I am an atheist, would welcome me into their home openly until they know that I don't believe in their religion.

Not any more than all Atheists make generalizations about Christians.

Few people here seem to be aware of the important distinction between weak atheism and positive atheism. One is straightforward disbelief and the other is an ideology but of course the believers like to lump all atheists in together because it makes things easier for them.

All? Hardly. Many Christians are loving, tolerant souls that I have nothing but respect for. Others are very hateful. Unfortunately it's this latter group that speaks loudest and causes the most waves.

I think generalizations are done between all believers and non-believers, I see it on here every day
