Do you believe that showering your kids with gifts is a good way of loving them?

No its not. Television is also teaching materialism. Its all buy, buy, buy! So when parents know materialism, of course the kids are going to learn it too.

I was showered with gifts when i was a child and i dont believe it spoiled me.
I think that being with other children spoils children.

Hell no. They have to be shown love by talking to them, spending time with them, reading, playing, teaching, etc...You can't "buy" anyone's love, or it's not love.

no... as much as I love my son, i don't buy him everything he wants... he needs to "earn it"..
my husband and I put a board and he needs to fill it up with stars..there is a picture of something he wants on the board.
when he fills it up, then he's earned it and we get it for him..

it's been working for us and my son.. if he misbehaves or something, then we take off stars..

i'd rather spend quality time with him, such as reading.. he loves me to read to him.. or just sit with him and watch tv for a bit.
